Story | |
Peter Nicholas was born at Peel St, Windsor at 11 am on 26 October 1869. He was the third child of Eliza and Thomas. The birth was registered as Peter Nicholas Melovitch. On his headstone, he is Peter 'Nicholos'.1
The five Milovitch children, Annie, Mary, Peter, Edward 'Paddy' and Korizo, may have gone to school in the Prahran area where they were born (the youngest in 1875), or near Nagambie where they were living by 1890.
Working Life At the time of his death at Tahbilk, Peter was described as a labourer, so it is likely he found work there with his father.2
Early Death Peter Nicholas Milovitch died of bronchitis at Tabilk in Nagambie on 15 June 1890, aged 20. He was buried at Nagambie cemetery on 7 July 1890. His death registration states he had bronchitis for three weeks and that the doctor saw him the day he died. The informant was his sister, Mary Elizabeth. Peter's niece, Iris Clark (Wilkinson), had reported that he drowned in the Goulburn or Murray River at a fairly young age. And a newspaper reported that he died of 'brain fever'.3,2,4,5 |
