Mary Elizabeth was born in Mount Gipps near Silverton, New South Wales on 3 May 1886. She was the sixth child of John Joseph and Sarah.2
 
Mary Elizabeth Williams died of marasmus (a form of severe malnutrition) at 66 Egan St, Richmond on 20 January 1888, aged 20 months. She was buried at Melbourne General cemetery on 21 January.4,5
