Drowned in the Goulburn River On Wednesday 29 January 1902, eleven year old Patrick Reid was swimming with friends in the Goulburn River at Shepparton when he got into difficulty and drowned. Police dragged the river for four hours without recovering the body. It was later recovered by local resident John Currey, a recently returned Boer War soldier. A magisterial inquiry returned a verdict of accidental drowning.4,5,6 | |
