Relationship and Family
Margaret Reid and Peter Zambellas began a relationship in Melbourne around 1900. Margaret had a child in 1900 and the couple had nine more children. Three of the children died as infants.
 
After the first child died aged 7 months, Mary and Peter went to Western Australia. The next two children were born in Perth, and one died there. The next child was born in Narrogin, about 150 km south-east of Perth, then one in Collie 150 km south of Perth, then Perth, three in Collie and the last in Perth in 1918.

Five of the births were under the name Reid and five under the name Zambellas. Margaret and several of her children also used the family name Bell.1
 
It is believed that a number of Margaret and Peter's children were looked after by Margaret's sister Johanna.2
 
Peter was a fishmonger when in Collie in 1916 and 1917.3
